The Gifted Equine is a place where horses are saved from slaughter, rehabilitated, and rehomed. A place where horses are always treated with respect & top notch care across the board.
The Problem
Horses are intuitive, sensible, smart, and in all senses powerful. So why is it that 100,000 horses and donkeys are shipped to the slaughter pipeline every year? Horses are sold by the pound for human consumption. Mexico, Switzerland, Kazakhstan, Belgium, Japan, Germany, Indonesia, Poland and China are among the nations where many people eat horse meat without a second thought.
Horses bound for slaughter may include pregnant mares, foals (baby horses) and horses who are injured or blind.The holding conditions in these environments are inhumane.
The suffering of equines is unimaginable.
Our Process
Horses who we are able to help in our program are saved from the slaughter pipeline, receive veterinary care, proper nutrition, exercise, rehabilitation if needed & lots of love.
Once the horse is rescued the horse receives routine dental care, vaccinations, farrier work etc. Every horse has its own needs & will be met. The horses go through basic horsemanship handling, training, & riding to be properly evaluated.
Once we feel we have gone through the all the steps in our process. The rehoming journey starts.
